Welcome to Whiskers & Tails Foundation
Where to begin…..All my life I had animals, but i wasn’t a very good guardian to my animals, my parents took care of them. I guess a miracle happened in my life and everything changed 180 degrees. At 31 years of age, i started becoming the person I am today, that’s 25 years ago. I think it was through all my life’s lessons prior to being 31 that changed my life’s direction towards animals. They were like me, needy for unconditional love and acceptance.
I started my new life with one cat, named Chuck, he was the runt of the litter and no one wanted him, my husband said, this cat is 1/3 the size of his siblings, he has runny eyes, coughing and sneezing, his mother didn’t take care of him, his siblings pounced on him, he was lethargic. Doomed from the beginning….that convinced me I wanted chuck in my life forever after….he was like me. I put Chuck in the palm of my hand, held him close to my heart on the ride home, it was a Sunday, I remember because I could not find a veterinarian to see him that day. Yes, Chuck had a long road ahead of him, he had a diseased pallet, all his food would go into his sinuses and head, then sneeze it out of his nose and mouth, which caused chronic infections,my poor Chuck visited the vet’s office most of his life. We build Chuck a special feeding post, my husband measured Chuck and determined where to put his foot pad and a octagonal platform that would purrfectly fit his plate, without falling. Chuck stood up with front paws on the foot pad, and ate his meals, this way gravity would force the food to his stomach not his head. It worked! we were so excited, Chuck took to this lifestyle very quickly. He was the smartest cat I ever had. Chuck opened my heart and my eyes to all the other animals in need, and that’s how it all began. Through the years after Chuck, hundreds of animals have been rescued and placed, we have helped many people with their animals in need of homes, medical attention, temporary housing, food, and spay & neutering. I ended up selling my house in Torrance, to buy a larger property to accommodate my animals, well, i found the house and property, not knowing that it came with a pot-bellied pig named Philomena, that was the clincher, i loved the little pig, the owner couldn’t take her to her new home. That’s how my barnyard rescue began, another surprise in the road, i rescued two more pot-bellied pigs from Carson shelter, Happy & Panda. I thought Phil would like some companions. Then, there was this pygmy goat named Valentine at Carson that was going to be put down, so i took him too….well, that was the beginning of my love affair with barnyard animals. I also became a vegetarian. Walk the way I talk. I believe this is my purpose in life, and I will dedicate my life to the animals as long as i am able.
Compassion for all animals,
